About Irene Mann

Irene Mann, BAS, LUTCF, RHU, CSA, began her career in the insurance industry in 1987, after an automobile accident which had her re-evaluate her career decision to be a computer programmer. Her father sold Medicare Supplements, Long-term Care and Annuities, and Irene grew up with their phone ringing all hours of the day, as her father tirelessly held his clients hands.

Raised in South Florida, she really understood the needs of seniors. She learned about service, trust, and patience, and the special needs of seniors.  Irene became a career agent with Guardian Life, where she received exceptional training in the insurance industry, and became the #1 Disability Insurance agent in her office and she received the Health Insurance Quality Award.  Earlier in her career as a life/health agent, she realized that in order to better serve her clients, she needed additional licensing, so she obtained her securities license.

In addition to Life, Health, Disability, Dental, Long-term Care, Fixed Annuities, College Savings Plans, and Medicare Supplements, she provided Mutual Funds, Variable Annuities and Variable Life.  She obtained her Life Underwriters Training Council Fellowship Certification (LUTCF), which includes advanced studies in Disability Income, Business Insurance, Business Continuation, Key Person, Split-Dollar, Qualified Retirement Plans, IRA’s, Tax Concepts, Deferred Compensation, Executive Benefit Plans, Wills & Trusts, and Group Life & Major Medical.  After 5 years with Guardian Life, she spent two years at Mass Mutual, where she continued her training as a Financial Advisor.

Irene has experienced the heart-wrenching realities of aging family members first with her grandparents and subsequently with her own parents and knows what it takes physically, emotionally, financially and spiritually bringing this understanding and compassion to her clients.  She has something to say about the effects that being a caregiver has on one’s health and pocketbook, shares this knowledge with everyone.  Irene took over her father’s company, County Health Insurance, and in addition to her own thriving business, she cares for all of her Dad’s clients who have known her since she was a teenager.

As an independent thinker, Irene knows that no one company had the best products for everyone and she as such is an Independent Broker, allowing her to always putting her clients needs first.

In 1997, she moved to San Jose, California, where she continued to service her Florida clients and began to develop a California base.  She continued her studies, earning her Registered Health Underwriter (RHU) designation from the American College, Bryn Mawr, PA.  As an RHU, she has extensive training in Individual & Group Medical, Disability and Long-term Care Insurance, Managed Care, and Planning for Retirement Needs.

In 2000, Irene obtained another prestigious designation, Certified Senior Advisor (CSA). The CSA certification recognizes  in-depth knowledge and insight into the needs of seniors,  including Principals, Social Aspects and Trends of Aging;  Social Security & Taxes;  Financial & Estate Planning; Care giving;  Health, Nutrition & Fitness; Alzheimer’s, Dementia & Chronic Illnesses; Medicare + Choice; Medicaid Planning; Ethics; Senior Housing & Assisted Living; Long-Term Care; Grief & Loss; Advance Directives; Senior Spirituality; Resources; and Funeral Planning.  She possesses not only the book knowledge of what seniors and their families face, but has extensive experience as well.

Whether in her personal or professional life, Irene has always been on a quest to learn as much as she can and to share her experience with as many people as possible.  Since the beginning of her career, Irene has been active in her local chapters of the National Association of Life Underwriters (NALU), the National Association of Health Underwriters (NAHU), the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors (NAIFA) and is currently on the Board of Director’s of the Northern California Chapter of the American Liver Foundation (ALF) and Chairperson of the Northern California Liver Walk for the past three years. Additionally, Irene is a Notary Public of the State of California.
